G
sunrise at Vermilion Lake with Mount Rundle almost sillouetted. Banff, Candian Rockies. I arrived at that place one hour before sunrise. Since the sun was coming out behind the mountain, nobody can know what is going to happen until it clears out, so the photographer must be prepared for the unexpected. When I arrived, there was 2 shooters before photographing. One was a lady with a point and shot camera who soon realized she was wasting her time at such a dark scene, so ended up leaving shortly. The 2ยบ guy was shooting with his tripod to the mountains towards the direction of the sun. The peaks to the right (not shown in this picture) started to be iluminated by the "hidden" sun. After 1/2 and hour, that guy quit and soon left. Since the sun was still hidden, I decided to stay on the scene despite my chest congestion and persistent cough. It wasn't until 5 minutes after that guy left when the sun suddenly came out. I manage to take only 3 pictures until the sun left touching the mountain. The magical moment, then was gone. My perserverance paid well off.
