Portraiture and human subjects are a bit out of my wheelhouse but I've recently been asked more often for performance portfolio shots. The holiday lights in San Antonio and a singer/songwriter provided an opportunity to try my new 50mm f/1.2 with a NISI Natural Night filter. I was quite impressed with these shots. My shooting approach is to set the desired aperture and program the second lens ring to adjust ISO to what is needed for my desired shutter speed. I was working with available light and no modifiers so sometimes the ISO got a tad high. Shooting with the Z9 I expected severe noise, and was ready to apply Topaz Denoise as needed. But I would say it wasn't really needed. As an example the first shot is an ISO of 25,600 right out of the camera. The second shot is the same one after applying Topaz Denoise. It provided some nice tonal enhancement but there wasn't much noise to get rid of. Is it the filter? The lens? Both? In any case it proved to be a great combination and will remain a popular part of my kit. The remaining shots are at lower ISO and simply examples of the lens and filter results. Kevin
