For the first part of the night of photographing the milky way I used a 16mm and a 35mm lenses. Then I attached my Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens to my D780 with the idea of getting more detail of the galactic core blended with a long exposure foreground of the tall granite peaks. By that time of night the galactic core was sinking behind the tall peaks but I was able to get some of the remaining core plus some color in one of the nebulae. The foreground is a 10 minute exposure with LENR. My shooting location was Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve.
