The first order Fresnel - pronounced fraynal - lamp shown here first burned refined lard oil (pig fat), then kerosene. In 1926, the lighthouse was provided with one, 1000 watt bulb. The lighthouse is a designated California Historical Landmark. In 1972, the Fresnel lens was officially retired from regular duty and was removed from the top of the tower. It is now displayed in the fog signal building adjacent to the base of the lighthouse. Aperture Priority Exposure. Pattern Metering. Photoshop Elements 15.
