The Blythe Intaglios are large figures scraped on the desert floor north of Blythe, California - somewhat like the Nazca Lines in Peru, but not as large or as old - like Peru, they are best seen from the air. Three shots from the cockpit of N2977G, a Citabria 7ECA, on the way to Blythe from Brown Field, San Diego and the a few of some of the figures. I dropped down to about 500 feet above ground for the figure shots, held the stick between my knees and shot a Nikon F3HP with Nikkor AI 50/1.4 and Kodacolor Gold film. Like most light airplanes, the Citabria is inherently stable with the bonus of being able to be soloed from the front seat. The enroute shots are approaching the Santa Rosa Mountains over the desert community of Borrego Springs, then two crossing the north end of the Salton Sea with the Coachella Valley off to the left. October 2, 1993 and 4.7 hours flying time over and back.
