Three King penguin chicks "play" together, by flapping wings and tussling with each other on a small rise. The chicks are about two months old, and have not yet molted their initial fur to acquire their adult plumage. On the left out of focus is one of the adult King Penguins. This is from a sequence of five images photographed at a small colony on Saunder's Island, in the Falkland Island archipelago. I was the staff photographer in residence on an expedition to Antarctica in December 2015 and January 2016 when we made a stop for an afternoon at this remote, sandy and hilly island. I originally featured this image in a discussion forum about the ethics of wildlife photography.
