Thanks Wayne. The choir collapsed shortly after it weas built, and they added the thinner columns we see now for added support. Not enough. Struts and binding rods were added in the 16th century, and it is a constant struggle to mantain it. The bell towewr came down during the first inaugural mass, and was not attempted again. These structures were conceived by bishops, and erected by masons who achieved incredible feats of construction, sometimes with precarious results...
