DeTomaso Pantera engine bay with a Ford Modular SOHC, 4.6L. V-8 motor. The DeTomaso Pantera GTS was the "brain-child" of Lee Iacoca: "drop" a "big-blobk" American V-8, with its low-end "grunt" into an Italian made monocoque chassis. The first Panteras were powered by a Ford 351 c.i.d. "Cleveland" V-8 motor. This high torque motor reduced the need for excessive gear changes at low speeds, making the car less demanding to drive in urban areas. Program Normal, Pattern Metering, SB-900 at EV -1.3.
