Though they may be quite rare at the edges of their range, Phaon Crescents occur from Florida right across the border states to southern California and as far south as Cuba and the Central American Countries. Seasonally, they may be seen as far north as Colorado and Kansas but few survive the winters there. Unlike most butterflies, Phaon Crescents, like this individual, may present a distinct winter color phase with muted, less crisp markings.
