A species native to the New World, encountered from the United States to Brazil. Roseate Skimmers are common and easily seen in a wide variety of habitats but they do require access to some form of relatively permanent open water; ditches and tanks will do. The male offers a spectacular rose pink coloration. The female presents an orange-brown abdomen with clear orange veins and a brownish thorax with a light stripe down the back.
