A big Reakirt's Blue has a wingspan of 1&1/8 inch. Like most members of his family, the wonderful blue color is visible only in flight or perched with open wings. Reakirt's Blues are readily found from southern California through the Southwest to Texas and south as far as Costa Rica. Summer migrants occur to the north and east as far as Ohio and Wisconsin. With these and the other little Blues, wonderful photos can be made with nothing more than a point and shoot camera. The key to success is slow slow movement --the closer the Blue, the slower the movements.
