The Powdered Dancer is the only predominantly white and the largest of the North American damselflies. It is also the only damselfly in which the female is more colorful than the male. Powdered Dancers occur in four provinces Canada, nine states in Mexico and forty-one states in the United States of America, least of all, those in the Pacific Northwest. They can be seen in a wide variety of riverine environments and seem to prefer sandy, as opposed to muddy, rocky or vegitated bottoms.
