The Canyon Towhee has a huge range; from south central Mexico well into the states of the American Southwest. They ply their ground-dwelling, seed-eating habits in the sparse brush of dry watercourses, higher through juniper and oak-covered hillsides and even into coniferous montane forests. However, they regularly avoid wet valleys and areas of human habitation.
