That older f/8 mirror lens is very hard to focus--and touchy. I took about a dozen attempts before I got one in decent focus.

I've still got my f/8 mirror from back in my F2/F3HP days (still got the bodies also) - it is very touchy to focus and a full moon doesn't do you any favors as the detail is minimal compared to partial phases when the light comes in at an oblique angle. Try it on a partial phase and use the terminator as your focus point.
