Done with just enfuse, because it's not obvious how to do focus stacking with Hugen, that's made mostly for panoramas. So my carefully selected reference points weren't used for this. Enfuse can combine images weighted by contrast (standard deviation) so effectively it picks parts of images based on what's in focus. And of course when you change the focus you're changing the zoom so things don't quite line up any more. My first attempt, what can I say. dcraw seemed to do something to the color balance in this, giving it a brownish look, which I tried to fix a little. 5 images fused here.

Which is nowhere near enough, and changing the camera focus is wrong. I need to have the camera mounted so I can move it 1 mm or less closer per frame, and shooting 100 frames isn't unheard of. http://extreme-macro.co.uk/shooting-focus-stacks/
