Thanks for the nice comment. I really like the 300 f/4 AF-S. It is a superb lens. It works well with the TC 1.4. Even the TC 1.7 delivers very good results if you employ good technique. I have taken many images with that lens over the last 7 years. I have a lot of hummer images in my Nikonians gallery, all of which were taken with this lens. Barry, ever try the TC20E III? I get great results on my D7000 and D800. I have the same lens.

No, I haven't, but I may give it a try. The reviews of TC20E II were generally less than flattering, but I have heard good things about the newest version. Glad to get your input.
