This is the "Sent Off" ceremony of goddess Durga and her family, after 5 days of pujo (worship). This is generally carried out by Hindu married women by offering the goddess sweets, beetle leaf and vermilion. This way the women also cel ebrate their "married" status. This day is celebrated as "Bijoya Dashami", it is the 10th day from the new moon of lunar calender. After this ceremony the idols are immersed in nearby rivers with great fanfare.
