This beautiful flower is called Sacred Thorn-apple or jimsonweed (Datura wrightii). It is in the Niteshade Family and blooms at night. A popping sound can sometimes be heard when these flowers spring open about 15 minutes after sunset. Hawkmoths frequent this flower in late summer.
