The Palouse is a rich agriculture area in Washington State. Farmers grow wheat and lentils. After the harvest they burn the fields to get rid of the stalks and stumps. This enriches the soil and also rids it of pests and insects. From a high vantage point the fields show geometric patterns of different colors, mostly black, green, red and yellow.
