While standing next to and outside the fence at the intersection of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue hopeing to catch a glimpse of our new president, a volunteer for the inauguration committee came by and offered my wife and I free tickets to get into the secure zone to see the parade. We got seats in front of the treasury department on Pennsylvania Avenue. Using my wife's Coolpix 3100 I snapped this shot as President and Mrs. Obama briefly got out and walked in front of us. I was standing on a wooden bench with people jumping up and down, and I was frozen to the point of shaking myself. Lucky again!

though i am fan of obama but from picture point, he is not at eye cathing point here, too much "bright" dead space of the buildings in the background, first lady's long stride is not very flattering for the main subject, two interesting things are position of secret service and the waving hands of audience on this side

Sadly I didn't have my D2X and 70-200 VR with me. When they surprisingly got out of the limo, I grabbed my wife's Coolpix, zoomed out all the way and pushed the shutter release. Not a great photograph, but an unexpected moment of celebration captured.
