Hi there

The Korhaans and Bustards are hard to distinguish, but I believe this is the Red-Crested Korhaan.

Hmmm... I see that I am out-of-date with my African bird names. The Korhaans are now called Bustards too, but, this is certainly not the Kori Bustard. If this was taken in Southern Africa I would call it the Red-Crested Bustard. Seing as you took it further North, I would guess it was the Buff-Crested Bustard as that seems the likely one from that region.

The Kori Bustard is probably twice the size, and more than twice the weight of the bird pictured above. See the pictures on wikipedia and others for the two birds.

Still, it looks more like the Red-Crested to me than the Buff-Crested. Not sure.

Beautiful picture regardless. They can be very hard to see in the long grass!
