Today was a number of firsts for me; the first day I ever used a 2x teleconverter with my 300 mm f/4 lens and the first time I ever shot surfers. I am happy with the results, but in my first posted image of my experiments, I am not sure which version of this image I like best the full (almost full FX view) or the more cropped version posted after this. The surfers were backlighted by the sun. Post processing including crop was done in Capture NX2 with copyright signature and prep for web done in PS CS4 Extended.

D700 with 300 mm f/4 EDIF AFS lens with Nikon 20 TC EII teleconverter giving me 600 mm. All mounted on my Gitzo 3541L tripod with Markins M20 ball head.
