Springtime in Greece. I couldn't approach closer than 2.5 metres, because the bees would pick another plant. I took my chances with the 80-400 handheld VR on. I went Manual at f11 for better depth of field and sharpness (f8-f11 being ideal settings for 80-400 lens sharpness), 1/800 for freezing the bee but not her wings. D300 calculated ISO1,100. I set the camera to CM, (Continued High). I focused carefully on the blossomed Calistimon and waited. The moment the bee entered in my viewfinder, I started shooting. It took me several bees, around 30min. and around 50 shots to get the bee sharply focused and rightly positioned.
