Jiangsu Province in southeast China is known as the "Venice of the East". The numerous watertowns are quaint and peaceful, promising the simple life and quiet times. I enjoy bringing foreign guests on a boat ride through the canals of Zhou Zhuang, propelled by a single, polished oar gently moving back and forth in time with the mournful Chinese ballad sung by the oarsman. Priceless.

My first "10". Here's why:
1) Timing - you either scouted this out and were up early on previous day(s) to check out the area, or you're incredibly lucky.
2) Location - a small splash of color from the lanterns is just right.
3) The Human Element - lends a sense of life to the place.
4) My favorite - the fog in the distance (see #1 above).
I really like this photo. I get a sense of peace, serenity, tao.
