G
A small butterfly found in the arc of desert states that comprise the American Southwest. Adults prefer nectaring in the brush along the banks of washes. Their taste in flowers is quite broad but their offspring (caterpillars) are devoted to Globe Mallow or plants in that family. Where their ranges overlap, a very slight variance in forewing pattern distinguishes Arizona Powdered Skippers from the closely related Texas Powdered Skipper. Both species tend to perch with wings open, exposing the best of their color to the camera.
