I find these flowers fascinating, and a lovely subject to use a 105mm macro lens on. This one was photographed at a 1:1 ratio, then cropped tight into a square. Of course gardeners and lawn purists despise them here in North America as they proliferate across the land every Spring. Canada's Native people made wine from this species. This version, known in latin as Taraxacum officinale, is after it has lost its distinctive yellow petals and gone to seed. In French it is known as "dent de lion" (teeth of the lion) or the English corruption of the word - the dandelion! Nikon D700, Nikkor 105 f/2.8D macro
