There is that moment when they hear or see you. Stopping only to assess direction of the possible threat, then removing themselves from the area (if decided). Your 1/80 pushed it a little. A bit of a gamble when movement is not under your control.

Thanks Marcus. This is one my favorite images and the moment of capture, I remember vividly. There is something magical about white-tail. In the early light of dawn, they suddenly appear right in front of you, like spirits.
