Goal: create cufflinks and studs referring to the musical score for a black tie engagement.
Steps:
Cut and dome copper discs; scrub with Penny Brite copper cleaner to remove oil.
Torch fire clear Thompson glass enamel enamel as a base (bottom-torching discs beneath a stainless steel mesh-topped Bunsen burner tripod ring stand).
Then mix colored enamel with gum arabic and draw the staff and notes with a tiny brush.
Torch fire a final clear glass layer.
Solder discs onto silver findings in a 430 degree kiln using Stay Brite low melt solder (slow temperature ramp up and down to avoid cracking).
