On the morning of this photograph, I stepped out of our little cabin to greet the day and just look around. When I saw this sunrise, I wasn't prepared as a photographer. My camera was in the cabin, my tripod was in our car, I hadn't owned my D80 for very long, and the light was changing fast. Fortunately the D80 is intuitive enough that I succeeded in coming away with a winner. This is a photograph to which I have a strong emotional attachment, as the image you see set the scene for a great family day in Yellowstone National Park.
