Well I went to Vasona Lake today but with the lack of rain the water level is really low now and what I got mostly was exercise walking around the lake looking for any sort of picture. I hardly took any. But I did get this guy not too far from shore. As usual the afternoon sunlight was strong and that always gives me a challenge in shooting all white Egrets,usually requiring some work in post processing.


D700 with 300 mm f/4 EDIF AFS lens with Nikon 2X EII teleconverter mounted on Gitzo 3541L tripod with Markins ballhead. f/8, 1/650, ISO 450. Processed in Capture NX2. converted for web and copyright added in CS4 Extended.

Rob, this is simply a great photo. The detail in the wings is just beautiful. The snow white color of the birds reflection in the dark water really gives this photo a depth I rarely see.
