The backbone of American aircraft carrier groups during World War II, the Hellcat was the most-produced fighter aircraft in history and the best general purpose fighter plane in the Pacific Theater. In 1946 Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation began a relationship with the US Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels that lasted until late 1968.
