Springtime in Greece. I couldn't approach closer than 2.5 metres, because the bees would pick a "safer" plant. I took my chances with the 80-400 handheld VR ON. I went Manual at f11 for better depth of field and sharpness (f8-f11 being ideal settings for 80-400 lens sharpness), 1/800 for freezing the bee, but not her wings. D300 calculated ISO1,100. I set the camera to CM, (Continued High). I focused carefully on the blossomed Calistimon and waited. The moment the bee entered in my viewfinder, I started shooting. It took me several bees, around 30min. and around 50 shots to get the bee sharply focused and rightly positioned.

I am glad you liked it as much as I did. To paraphrase the J. Walker ad, "Keep.....Shooting".

Very well done! You had carefully thought through your shot and it paid off Smile Very nice bokeh and I like the framing of everything in the composition... nothing is centered, and the red of the Calistimon really pops out in the photo.

Well timed, well framed, well focused... well done!
