Beautiful colors Tom. You're a man of many photographic talents. I assumed you used a flash, as that is what I use to achieve the black background (which really provides an excellent contrast here with these colors), but the shutter speed doesn't match what I would expect from use of a flash. What am I missing?

Hi Barry, thanks for the generous compliment. I appreciated it very much. The flower was partially back lighted by the late afternoon sun. I made the shot at a 90 degree angle to the sun. The area behind the flower -- the direction that the camera was pointed -- was deeply shaded. I used control points in Capture NX to make the underexposed area even darker. I am glad that you liked the shot. Tom
