Oh wow, he's great...wonderful detail! I thought it was a beaver at first glance. Did you take his photo on your trip this last week?

Thanks Lag, I appreciate the nice comment. This is the first shot I have gotten of one up close and not swimming. Tom

Hi Karen and thank you very much. Muskrats and beavers are hard for me to tell apart while they are swimming and I cannot see the beaver's tail. Now that the Nutrias have shown up, it make identification even harder.
Yes, this was a photo from my trip to the Spring River area of Arkansas. I had pretty good luck and got several Muskrat shots. I was glad to get a Muskrat shot to add to my gallery. Also, I was able to photograph some Groundhogs and will be able to include one for my gallery. We have ground hogs where I live, but I never have gotten a shot of one. There are more White-tail deer in this area than I have seen anywhere before, but the number of road kill was a bit of a downer. I saw a pie-bald deer, a first for me. There are a few Eagles and Falcons and plenty of Turkeys. It looks like a good place for song birds and I got shots of Common Yellow Throats and Baltimore O's.
I understand that the Spring River gets pretty wild during the Summer when people float the river. Noisy people and wildlife photography don't mix do they? Tom

I'm glad your photo trip was successful, Tom. Sounds like you saw a large variety of wildlife there...great. I had never heard of the term "pie-bald deer"...had to look that one up (grin). Yep...those "floating rivers" do get busy in the summer time...not the best environment for nature photography.
